The First Annual Walk Against Addiction on September 25, 2010 at First Flight High School was a HUGE success. Brenda Thacker had the community rallying together in the spirit of healing, hope, and education. Real light was shed on the evil that is substance abuse and addiction.
Recovery agencies within the community were on hand to distribute information and answer questions about the realities of addiction in Dare County. Dunkin Donuts provided a wonderfully well-balanced breakfast (12oz of coffee in one hand and 12oz of Munchins in the other)
THE WALK’S INTRODUCTION BY BRENDA THACKER
WHEN DOVES FLY
After Brenda’s introduction and welcome, When Doves Fly arranged for the release of 12 white doves as symbols of hope and recovery.
THE WALK
When the walkers returned, the church grilled up some hot dogs and hamburgers. Homemade desserts, soft drinks, water and chips were given out for lunch.
Conversations continued, stories were shared, and fellowship was had. Thank you Brenda for your dedication and devotion to a very difficult issue that impacts so many.
