WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP?
Stewardship is so much more than how we handle money. Stewardship is about faithful management of ALL that God has given us including: Time to speak with God; Time to spend in God’s presence and with God’s people; Our talents and passions; Our financial blessings; Opportunities to love others through outreach and service; and Opportunities to live a life in devotion to God in the midst of others. Stewardship is a way of life that recognizes ALL we have is God’s, and we are simply managers (or stewards) of those resources while here on earth.

The Bible is filled with examples of grateful response to God’s generous gifts. The Bible also teaches about our personal responsibility to share with others and warns against selfishness and misuse of God’s economic resources.

THE METHODIST APPROACH TO STEWARDSHIP
John Wesley encouraged us to Earn All We CanSave All We Can… so we can Give All We Can. He modeled modest living and sacrificial giving. Wesley made sure those early classes of “methodists” took weekly offerings to help those in need.

Just as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish when the crowd grew hungry, today, United Methodists join others to help all of God’s children…whenever and wherever we can. Through our congregation, we are the hands and feet of the body of Christ extended God’s love to all those within reach.

WHO PARTICIPATES IN STEWARDSHIP?
If you have a pulse and you can breath in and out all day long, God has an expectation of your participation in the life of his church and within the lives of his children.
This pulse-having, breath-taking population would include:

  • Youth & Adult Members of Mighty Wind UMC – When we join the church, we commit to faithful to God through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
  • Children - Children are the present and future of the church. It’s important we help them form healthy spiritual habits and deep roots now.
  • Guests - We’d love to become your church family but if you already have a church home, we encourage you to participate fully in your worship with us and use the Growth Cards as a commitment in your growth through your other faith family.
