Ever wonder what gets included in a Sunday worship service and why? A United Methodist worship service has four parts: Entrance and Praise, Proclamation of the Word, Response to the Word and Sending Forth. Entrance and Praise is the time of preparation in prayer and song as we begin to worship. Proclamation of the Word includes scripture readings from both the Old and New Testaments as well as the sermon (and sometimes testimonies). Response to the Word is where we respond to the word we have heard, read, sung and proclaimed by giving our gifts in thanks for the awesomeness of God! Finally, we are sent forth with the benediction, which is a blessing to share the love of God with all persons as we make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As we worship together, we are blessed and empowered by God to bless and empower others. See you Sunday!
